“Villa Dewata 1” is set in a quiet compound less than 100 meters from the main road in the center of Basangkasa, the area between Legian/ Seminyak and The Oberoi. Many interesting shops are right on the main road near the villa; it’s about 1km to the beach, and a few minutes by car bring you to an increasing number of trendy restaurants such as Ultimo, Metis, Ku de Ta, Hu’u, The Living Room, La Lucciola, Trattoria, Mykonos, Kuni’s, etc. The international airport is about 30 minutes away, and it’s about the same distance to the popular “Bali Nirvana Golf Course” and the famous Tanah Lot temple.

The Villa
This beautiful villa has an elegant simplistic design with a roof covered with wooden shingles. There are four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a large air-conditioned TV lounge and a spacious dining and living area perfect for entertaining guests. The adjacent open pantry is equipped with a toaster, gas cooker and refrigerator, and another stove and refrigerator as well as electric appliances such as a micro wave oven, steamer, blender, etc. can be found in the adjacent kitchen.

Large folding glass doors in the living/dining room open up on two sides to the garden with many tropical plants and the swimming pool, and ceiling fans provide additional ventilation if required. Furnishings include a dining table for 8 guests and comfortable sofas. Next to the swimming pool two spacious “Bales” (gazebos), one with comfortable sofas, and the other with large day beds.

Bedrooms
All four bedrooms are air-conditioned, and the two front bedrooms have windows and glass doors opening up to the garden and swimming pool. All bedrooms have king-size beds and an additional day bed. The en-suite bathrooms of the two bedrooms facing the swimming pool have sinks and soaking bath tubs large enough for two, the other two en-suite bathrooms have only a sink and showers.

Amenities
The 42 inch/110 cm SONY TV with surround-sound system in the air-conditioned TV lounge next to the dining area is connected to a DVD player and a cable TV system to receive over 55 international news programs, sports and movie channels, and there is a stereo system with tape deck and CD player in the dining/living room as well as a direct IDD telephone line and a fax machine. A personal electronic safe is installed in all bedrooms.

Master Bedrooms
The two, sizeable, master bedrooms are located on the upper floor of the main building. Each is air-conditioned and each features a teakwood floor, a dressing area and an ensuite bathroom; each is complemented by a rooftop terrace with a lovely view of the garden, the neighbouring fields and a glimpse of the ocean. Both master bedrooms are furnished with a California king size bed, one of which is a Ziplock bed that can be converted into twin beds. Each room also presents teak wardrobes, shelf units, a desk, an upholstered daybed and a 32″ satellite TV. Sliding doors lead from these master bedrooms into their respective ensuite bathrooms. Each spacious master bathroom is fitted with a bathtub with handheld shower, a double vanity unit with a large wall mirror and twin washbasins, and a toilet. Guest Room

Dining Room with ensuite Kitchen
The large air-conditioned dining room is furnished with a table for 12, and also features a ceiling fan, mood lighting and sliding doors, which open onto the pool terrace. More doors on the opposite side can be opened to allow for cross ventilation and access into a walled garden area, bordered by a pond with bulrushes and lilies. At the far end of the dining room is an open-plan, fully equipped, feature kitchen with a marble work top, a central island, stylish white cupboards and stainless steel appliances. There is also a service kitchen and laundry hidden away behind the main kitchen.

Guest Office/Library
The guest office & library is located on the upper floor landing of the main building. This cool breezy space is comfortably furnished with sofas, chairs, an ottoman and a coffee table. It is decorated with local artwork and equipped with a computer and fax printer.

Gazebo
There is large open-sided ‘bale’ pavilion in the garden, with a raised wooden floor and a high roof, rattan sofas and a dining table for eight. It is cooled by natural breezes and two ceiling fans.

Pool & Garden
The extensive walled garden is stunningly landscaped around the 20 x 5 metre swimming pool, which is ideal for swimming laps. The flat green lawns are punctuated by palms, fragrant frangipanis, and other flowering trees. A wide timber deck, furnished with sunloungers and umbrellas, borders the infinity edge pool, which is lined with rustic Java stone. Every guest need has been considered with the provision of a pool bar, a pool shower and a guest washroom and toilet. There is even a surf board for guest use.

Gym
The air-conditioned Gym is a single-storey stand-alone building, located close to the swimming pool. Living & Dining Pavilion
The spacious Living & Dining Pavilion is characterised by a soaring roof, splendid honey-coloured teakwood panelling, a creamy-coloured Indian stone wall and a polished marble floor. Open on three sides, it is cooled by gentle breezes and ceiling fans and dramatically lit by pendulous copper lanterns. The solid teak dining table boasts five stage banquet extensions enabling it to accommodate up to 20 guests. The living area is furnished with comfortable sofas and ottomans complemented by a glass coffee table with hidden lighting that creates a soft glow at night.

A Sonos digital music system, with many thousand sound tracks sorted into a wide variety of genres, can be controlled remotely from anywhere within the Living & Dining Pavilion, the garden or the poolside ‘bale’ Pavilion.

Media Room
A marble staircase leads from the main Living & Dining area up to the Media Room. Elegantly furnished with deeply-cushioned upholstered armchairs and a long sofa, standard lamps, a large floor rug and a built-in desk that hugs the wall, this is a great place to escape and chill out in air-conditioned comfort. Wide windows overlook the pool and curtains and timber blinds can be drawn to create a cosy ambience.

The Media Room is well equipped with a 50″ plasma screen, cable-channel TV, a DVD player and a state of the art Yamaha theatre sound system. It includes a dual microphone karaoke system, as well as a computer allowing internet access.

Entertainment Terrace
The open-air, rooftop Entertainment Terrace presents a great space for sunset cocktails. It is positioned on the same level as the Media Room and is furnished with outdoor sofas and twin solid wood tables.

Gym
The timber-clad Gym has a mirrored wall and is fitted with both air-conditioning and ceiling fans. It is well equipped with a fridge, iPod-controlled sound system, TV, cross-trainer, treadmill, weights and mats.

Bedrooms
The four bedrooms are situated in a self-contained two-storey ‘Sleeping Pavilion’ positioned at one end of the swimming pool. Each bedroom features sliding glass doors with teakwood shutters, a timber veneer floor and handmade coffered timber ceilings. Each is equipped with wardrobes, air-conditioning, a safe deposit box, a 32″ TV with cable channels and an iPod docking station, complete with radio and quality speakers. Desks, chairs and reading lights are provided for the comfort of the guests. Jim Thompson silk feature fabrics make up the richly coloured cushion covers and the yielding wall panels behind the beds.

Located upstairs, the Master Bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed complemented by soft fabrics and cushions. Shag-pile rugs rest on the floor and a custom-built desk runs the length of the wall. An air-conditioned dressing area presents a twin vanity unit with ‘his & hers’ washbasins. Sliding doors open into the marble bathroom where glassless windows with wooden louvre shutters allow the cool breezes to permeate. The bathroom is equipped with a toilet, raindrop shower and a bathtub.

The other upstairs bedroom is air-conditioned, presided over by a king-size bed complemented by soft furnishings themed in shades of red. The outdoor en-suite bathroom, fashioned in coffee and cream marble, is spacious and light. It is accessible from the bedroom through sliding glass doors with wooden timber blinds. The toilet and vanity unit with washbasin is located undercover, while an adjoining private garden planted with giant taro presents a bathtub and a raindrop shower open to the sky yet sheltered from the elements by the overhanging roof. Hanging blinds can also be lowered to provide additional protection.

The other downstairs guestroom is furnished with a king-size bed harmonised with Jim Thompson fabrics themed in shades of blue and brown. Villa des Indes is built in a unique style and decorated with museum quality Indonesian art. Enter the villa through huge antique doors and across a koi pond to the magnificent centerpiece of the estate, the “Joglo”. This century old residence of a Javanese nobleman has been carefully transplanted to Bali. It is a masterpiece of intricately hand carved teak wood that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. The Joglo rests on a lagoon-style swimming pool featuring an island and set in an amazing tropical garden.

The owners who are well traveled, with long experience in South East Asia, have decorated the Joglo and the three individual bungalows with selected museum-quality art from their extensive collection, which include: paintings, period furniture, classic sculptures as well as charming colonial prints.

Laksmana Villas
None of the tranquility of Bali’s timeless charm has been lost, the exclusive residences of Laksmana Villas are situated in complete privacy down a shady lane that keeps the outside world at a discreet distance, and all this only one hundred meters from the Indian ocean ! At night the only sounds heard are that of a tropical breeze in swaying coconut palms, and the distant crashing of surf.

Bungalows
Each of the three individual colonial style bungalows within the villa residence have wide verandas and magnificent views of the exquisitely hand carved Javanese Joglo, the social center of the estate and overlook the pool. All of the bungalows are fully air conditioned with oversized antique Balinese wooden beds, splendidly appointed baths, and outdoor showers.

Three of the bungalows have den-libraries attached to the bedrooms. The third bungalow has an upper open pavilion for sunset cocktails with adjacent butler’s pantry and guest toilet. The best of Seminyak is within walking distance of the villa, but many visitors find they will seldom leave this elegant ambience which transports all who enter to a gentler more civilized era.

Prominent features of the house are its large open-air living room opening on the pool deck, providing an easy transition from indoors to out. Its large freeform swimming pool has an eye-catching shape, emphasizing and reinforcing the minimalist features of the villa. The decor is funky yet stylish, pulling a mix of elements together into a modern and youthful combination.

The two buildings feature a mix of stone, wood and marble flooring. High ceilings grace all the rooms with the focus of the complex being inwards toward the swimming pool. All the bedrooms feature air-conditioning, with fans decorating the ceilings within the open-air areas. A bathtub large enough for more than two looking out onto is own private garden is the focal point of the master bedroom.
