Villa Yoyo is positioned around two sides of the large 17 x 6.5 meter lap pool, which is tiled with green Java stone and complemented by a serene Buddha statue and an outdoor rain shower. Privacy and security is maintained by an encompassing garden wall. At one end of the pool is a relaxation pavilion, known as a ‘bale bengong’. Furnished with cushions, it is great for chilling out with a book or taking an afternoon nap. A small, 2-storey, rectangular, wooden gazebo, charmingly fashioned in the form of a traditional rice barn – known as a ‘lumbung’ or ‘jineng’ – with a thatched, horseshoe-shaped roof, rests in another part of the garden. Glide across white stepping stones over the koi pond and enter Villa 999, Kubu’s newest, ultra-luxurious, smart, sharp and unashamedly sexy two-bedroom villa. A beautiful ’joglo’ (Javanese wooden pavilion), enhanced with eclectic comfy sofas and custom furniture, forms the villa’s open-sided sitting room and looks out over the large pool to the bale. The generously sized master bedroom features a flat-screen TV, dreamy mosquito netting encircling the bed and an indoor-outdoor garden bathroom. The guest bedroom, also en-suite, is located next to the kitchen and, although smaller than the master, is no less sumptuous. This villa was designed for entertaining and guests here will certainly be wooed.

Villa 0 (Zero) – Two bedroom pool villa (deluxe)
Villa Zero is very similar in style to Villa 999 but has an upper floor housing a 200-square-metre master bedroom with indoor-outdoor en-suite bathroom and a large ’lumbung’ (thatch-roofed) terrace. The villa has been sumptuously fitted out in modern Balinese style. Downstairs, a large kitchen, dining room, living room and en-suite bedroom all overlook the generously sized pool, and numerous ’surprise’ gardens and terraces delight the eye. Villa 1 – Two bedroom pool villa (standard)
This two bedroom villa is perfect for a tropical getaway and large enough to host a party with your new best Bali friends and boasts an outdoor bale and lounge area that can easily seat a group of up to 20 people. The outdoor round bale is the centre of attraction and is enhanced by an intricate stone carving on the back wall. The thatched roof is upheld by stone columns reminiscent of a Roman cathedral. Lounge seats are in a u shape for convivial conversation and a huge teak coffee table doubles as a dining table for casual meals. Both bedrooms are en-suite with indoor outdoor bathrooms and sit behind traditional rustic carved Balinese doors. Seashell chandeliers set the tone for this two bedroom spiritual oasis that is, according to the expert healers, built on a vortex of good energy and is home to many of Villa Kubu’s wellness sessions. It is noted that before the villa was built a Balian (Balinese Spiritual Advisor) lived on the land thus making it holy. The entrance to this villa leads you through a secret garden with a wonderful floral topiary overhanging the stone step walkway and towards a large pool and main garden. Daily activity here is focused around the pool. The traditionally thatched gazebo is an ideal niche to read, laze or take pleasure in an afternoon siesta. The indoor outdoor bathrooms with exposed terracotta roof tiles are replete with an oversized bathtub built for two. This is romantic escapism at its best.

Villa Kubu’s two bedroom villa is superb oasis for a Bali holiday and the perfect fit for families and friends. Lavishly appointed with kilm carpets on terrazzo ivory floors a large dinning room has an old farm teakwood table and pull up teak benches for casual meals in the privacy of your villa. What sets this villa apart is its spacious garden and oversized pool. There is an outdoor pond featuring beautifully colored Koi and a terracotta fountain set just off the kitchen housed in its own stone courtyard off the back of the property. Villa 3 – Three bedroom pool villa; interconnected with villa 10
This three bedroom villa has high vaulted thatched alang alang ceilings and is spoilingly spacious. An added advantage here is that this villa can connect to the next door one bedroom villa (Villa 15) for an even larger party. En-suite indoor-outdoor bathrooms accompany all of the bedrooms and the master bedroom has its own dressing room complete with a walk in closet. On the second level is an entertainment room with a wide screen TV and lounge seating that can be closed off to be air conditioned or left open to the breezy elements. A large teak dining table is the centre for gathering friends and families for meals and the dining room is accented by Indonesian paintings and antiques. The pool and outdoor bale are bordered with lovely palm trees and tropical vegetation and frangipani trees.

Villa 16 – Three bedroom pool villa
This three-bedroom villa is more modern in style than the other villas on the estate. It has a slightly Mediterranean feel with a white stucco exterior and – on the upper storey balcony that’s ideal for dining under the stars – an intricate ironwork balustrade. Also on this level are rare bengkiray wooden floors topped with comfortable king-size beds. Another open-air dining area is located downstairs next to the pool, this one furnished with a round dining table suitable for larger groups. Sliding French doors open from the Canton-tiled ground floor onto the massive garden, where one of the features is the Pandan palm trees that are over two decades.

Villa 4 – One bedroom pool villa (large pool)
This one bedroom villa was one of the original villas on the property and has been newly renovated. There is a large outdoor seating area that is party perfect and has been home to some of the islands most talked about soirees. The large pool sits in a mature manicured garden with a beautiful bale. The bedroom is built on a raised terrazzo platform adding to the charm and romance of the villa. A large bathroom with a double sink, outdoor shower and a tub for two makes getting ready for a night out pure pleasure.

The owner of Villa Kubu has spent years studying the tropical vegetation on the island and the villa’s gardens reflect her love of Balinese botanicals. Each garden is as diverse as the villas themselves with some featuring lotus ponds, waterfalls and rock gardens complete with Balinese statuary. All of the gardens have a varied and beautiful assortment of tropical flowers and foliage. Pathways on the villa properties wind their way under canopies of palm trees and are flanked on either side by the trunks of palms and the coloured foliage from plants that will tolerate the shade. The urns, statues and ornaments add a decorative element to the spaces and there are bursts of colour throughout the property with bougainvillea and ginger flowers growing in abundance. Villa Kubu’s gardens are an amalgamation of a variety of elements that are unique to the island and conform to what is now simply referred to as Balinese style. Directly after the entrance is the villa’s office outfitted with a beautiful carved desk and cabinet, equipped with computer and printer. Free Internet access is also provided. Traditional paintings adorn the office walls combined with the pleasant view of the garden makes any kind of office work a pleasure.

Walking inside the premises you will first see the huge double garage (separate building) housing an exclusive restored open Toyota Land cruiser. This car can be rented on a daily basis for a small fee and is perfectly suited for exploring the beautiful island of Bali. Situated over the garage is one bedroom with a queen sized bed as well as a bathroom on the ground floor. This bedroom is complete with air conditioning.

To your right stretches the gorgeous tropical garden with a swimming pool and tea house in the rear. After parking the car, the focal point is the swimming pool on the right side. It is unique as its form is round and it shows a big symbol of yin and yang on its bottom. Lounge chairs beside the pool invite you to relax and take a sun bath. If the sun gets too hot, you can stroll to the tea house to sit in wonderful comfortable armchairs. There you can enjoy a cool drink and let your eyes wander over the water pond with its small waterfalls, giving you additional relaxation.

Upon entering the villa on the ground floor you find yourself in an expansive 80m2 sized living / dining area with marble flooring, beautiful designed wood ceilings, complimented with modern and comfortable furniture of highest quality. A selection of traditional original paintings from famous Balinese painters decorate the walls. This living area also serves as dining area; a dining table with 6 dining chairs is located on a corner overlooking the garden and pool. Next to this living, a fully equipped kitchen (with modern cooking utensils) is ready to serve your daily meal.

Also on the ground floor is the first master bedroom. This huge bedroom has an entrance from the living area as well a separate entrance from the pool. Another door is located at the rear with a view to the beautiful designed water pond. An A/C provides additional relief from the balmy warmth and humidity inside your Bali villa accommodation. The in-suite bathroom is equipped with a free standing marble bathtub and marble sink. The open 3-sided view from the bathroom to the pool and garden makes each use a special occasion.

Next to the kitchen, still on the ground floor, a small room is placed as ‘nanny’ room. This room can also be used by kids when you do not come with your nanny. Walk up the magnificent handcrafted wooden staircase to the first floor. On the way up you can again see original paintings from Balinese painters. From the large hall upstairs you enter the expansive open-air living area. Leave the open living area and stroll back to the hall. From here you have access to the second master bedroom with a queen sized bed. Two more bedrooms with queen sized beds complete the 1st floor of the villa. These two bedrooms share one common bathroom. Next to bedrooms upstairs, a large dining table is prepared. Hidden behind a wall that shields villa guests from prying eyes without taking away from the sea views, the double-storey Villa LeGa is built around a central 12-metre swimming pool, complete with outdoors shower and various water features, which takes up most of the garden space. It boasts five ensuite bedrooms each possessing massive beds and flat screens; they are furnished in a simple, elegant style with just a dash of glamour added with sparkling accents on cushions and throws.

Bedrooms
Villa LeGa has five en suite bedrooms in total, all boasting massive 2mx2m king sized beds with mosquito nets, cable television and DVD player, sound systems, international telephone lines, writing desks and chairs, Balinese artwork and modern, glamorous decor touches.

Furnished using mixed media, the combination of dark wood, light wicker, crisp white linen and sparkling accents in the form of cushions and throws in different colours – red, black, bronze, gold and pink-tinged green – in each, the bedrooms are spacious and simple chic in style.

Two large, identical bedrooms downstairs lead onto the wooden deck surrounding the swimming pool. Both have a dressing room and open-air en suite bathroom with double basin, rain shower and bath. A third, smaller, en suite bedroom can be found upstairs immediately to the left of the stairs. Furnished in identical style, but in golden accents, to the rest of the bedrooms, this room is no less charming for its smaller size – indeed, it is the perfect bedroom for a child, right next door to one of the two master bedrooms upstairs.

Which leads us to the two master bedrooms. The first, right next door to the third smaller bedroom and straight ahead at the top of the stairs, is situated above the downstairs living area, overlooking the pool below and the sea beyond. This room boasts a massive dressing room, as well as a large open-air bathroom including basin, bath and rain shower – a rain shower with a secret sweeping sea and Seminyak view! The room, which features pinkish green/bronze accents, also has a small sitting area complete with two comfortable chairs in front of the TV. Double glass doors slide open and lead you onto a private wooden deck overlooking the pool and ocean.

Turn right when you reach the top of the stairs, and the wraparound wooden deck will lead you to the second master bedroom. And this is the bedroom to draw straws for. With two sets of double glass sliding doors – one leading onto the deck looking over the pool and the other onto the front deck and lounge area overlooking the ocean – this room is guaranteed to make the most of those cooling sea breezes. A smaller dressing room leaves extra space for this large bedroom, while the outdoors bathroom boasts both rain shower and bath. The winning feature of this room is, undoubtedly, the front deck. Step out of the front set of sliding doors into paradise – complete with bar area, sundowner lounge area and views over the ocean to the other side of the world.

Ensuite bathrooms
Each open-air en suite bathroom in Villa LeGa comes complete with its own separate dressing area boasting large amounts of cupboard space. The two downstairs bathrooms both feature double basins, rain showers and baths.

Upstairs, the bathroom off the smaller bedroom boasts a single basin and rain shower. The master bedroom next to this undoubtedly has the most noteworthy bathroom. Watch the waves crashing onto the Seminyak shore while you indulge in a rain shower or sink into the luxury of the raised bath while listening to the soothing sounds of the sea. Even the large dressing area off this bathroom can boast a sea view! Finally, the bathroom off the second master bedroom may not have the sea view of its partner, but it too comes complete with rain shower, bath and single basin.

All bathrooms use the same mixed media approach to decor, with modern glass, tap fittings and tiling complimented by teak additions and traditional Balinese art accents.

Living Area & Swimming Pool
The breezy open air, and open plan living, dining and kitchen area downstairs, which allows the outdoors in courtesy of sets of sliding glass doors on two sides, opens onto the wooden deck surrounding the pool.

Furnished using the same mixed media approach as the rest of the house, exquisitely carved teak forms the base of the coffee and dining tables, which are then topped by glass. Dark wood mixes with lighter wood, which, in turn, mixes with the even lighter wicker furniture that makes up the seating area. A large couch set looks out onto the pool, with cream cushions allowing for the type of comfortable seating every living area should have.

Another carved teak and glass table forms a unique lighting feature in one corner, with bulbs placed inside the wooden base beneath the glass. Other Balinese carving, lighting and art accents add to the overall ambience, while a water feature to the left of the sitting area gurgles away, adding to the soothing sounds of the ocean.

The 12-metre swimming pool out front, with its wooden deck, eight all-weather white loungers and double daybed furnished in bright red cushions, dominates the rest of the space at Villa LeGa – which is as it should be for any holiday home. An outdoor shower right next to the pool ensures sandy feet don’t mar the gleaming blue, while yet another water feature adds to the overall soothing effect water has.

Dining Area

“Villa Dewata II” is set in a quiet compound less than 100 meters from the main road in the center of Basangkasa, the area between Legian/ Seminyak and The Oberoi Hotel. The international airport is about 20 minutes away, and it’s about the same distance to the popular “Bali Nirvana Golf Course” and the famous Tanah Lot temple.

Both master bedrooms are furnished with a California king size bed, one of which is a Ziplock bed that can be converted into twin beds. Guest Room

Dining Room with ensuite Kitchen
The large air-conditioned dining room is furnished with a table for 12, and also features a ceiling fan, mood lighting and sliding doors, which open onto the pool terrace. More doors on the opposite side can be opened to allow for cross ventilation and access into a walled garden area, bordered by a pond with bulrushes and lilies. At the far end of the dining room is an open-plan, fully equipped, feature kitchen with a marble work top, a central island, stylish white cupboards and stainless steel appliances. There is also a service kitchen and laundry hidden away behind the main kitchen.

Guest Office/Library
The guest office & library is located on the upper floor landing of the main building. This cool breezy space is comfortably furnished with sofas, chairs, an ottoman and a coffee table. It is decorated with local artwork and equipped with a computer and fax printer.

Gazebo
There is large open-sided ‘bale’ pavilion in the garden, with a raised wooden floor and a high roof, rattan sofas and a dining table for eight. It is cooled by natural breezes and two ceiling fans.

Pool & Garden
The extensive walled garden is stunningly landscaped around the 20 x 5 metre swimming pool, which is ideal for swimming laps. The flat green lawns are punctuated by palms, fragrant frangipanis, and other flowering trees. A wide timber deck, furnished with sunloungers and umbrellas, borders the infinity edge pool, which is lined with rustic Java stone. Every guest need has been considered with the provision of a pool bar, a pool shower and a guest washroom and toilet. There is even a surf board for guest use.

Villa Elang is located in Seminyak, on Bali’s south-western coastline and the villa is less than a 5 minute walk to the Seminyak beach, and the famous La Luciola, Living Room, Hu’u, Day Dream and Kudeta, restaurants are just down the road. Warisan and the ever expanding selection of glamorous restaurants, chic night clubs and fashionable spas and boutiques on Jalan Oberoi are only a few minutes drive away.

The drive from the Bali’s international airport takes approximately 25 minutes. The villa is also convenient to all of the many of Bali’s tourist attractions with Kuta and the Waterbom Park less than a 15 minutes drive. For the sporting enthusiast most amenities are equally accessible including the ‘Canggu Club’ tennis and gymnasium facilities, the Umalas horseback riding school and surf schools. The spectacular Le Meridian championship golf course at Tanah Lot, is only 20 minutes by car.

Architecture
Villa Elang has been entirely refurbished this year. Designed and built by the locally-acclaimed, Bali-based, PT. Triadi architectural and construction group, the villa accents colonial style elements, such as high ceilings, cool limed terracotta tiled flooring and large terraces graced by tall white pillars. As is their standard, the villa has been built with the very best of amenities and to the highest standards. The proportions of all of the living areas and bedrooms are generous, and the interior furnishings have been tastefully integrated throughout, with comfortable white over sized rattan armchairs, and lounges. The villa owners have lived in Bali for over 12 years and their very personal sense of style and appreciation of the various Indonesian materials and local crafts are tastefully reflected throughout the villa.

Entrance and Garden
The villa is accessed by the private Sentosa Villa driveway, with secure parking for 4 cars. Guests enter through a set of traditional double Balinese doors opening onto an ‘Aling Aling’ wall behind which is a small fish pond with a ‘Barong’ face water feature. The garden is simple and easy on the eye, edged with several rare and mature massive Hawaiian palm trees. One pool opposite the living area is kidney shaped and has 6 pool deck chairs and a cushioned Pool Bale. The second smaller rectangle pool divides the living Pavilion from the master bedroom pavilion. Fortunately the villa has a completely separate access for the staff and all service deliveries, so you are not disturbed or interrupted unnecessarily during your stay.

Main Pavilion
Large white palimanan pavers walk you immediately to the central focus of the villa – the magnificent and expansive 12 m x 10 m open-air living and dining pavilion which opens directly onto the flat lawn garden and main pool deck, giving a seamless flow from indoors to out. This pavilion has spectacular high wooden white painted ceilings, set with overhead fans and the wide roof overhang and large terraces ensure that guests can enjoy all the benefits of open tropical living and can still be protected from the elements. This open planed area accommodates two 5-seater oversized rattan sofas, and a TV area. Two further casual seating areas with large white raffles style rattan chairs face onto the garden. A beautiful timber dining table easily seats 14 guests.

Kitchen
At the rear a stunning natural 4 meter timber bar opens to a beautiful galley guest kitchen. Unlike many villas in Bali, where the kitchen is tucked away at the back of the property, the immaculate open kitchen at Villa Elang is a popular with guests who enjoy mixing drinks and preparing some of their meals if that is to their liking. The kitchen has large mirrored back walls, soft grey marble work surfaces and white cupboards and is fully equipped with refrigerator, and gas hob.

Staff Kitchen
A separate service kitchen is located adjacent to the rear of the open guest kitchen. This kitchen has been set up so that the staff can prepare food separately and serve it elegantly for all guest dining. This kitchen is also fully equipped with a second stove and fridge and has everything else that the staff will need to create delicious meals. There is also a large canopied BBQ.

Villa Elang is ideal for entertaining for both small and large formal dinners. Dimmed over head lighting, together with the atmosphere of a beautiful set, candlelit table, overlooking the garden and pools make for many a memorable evening. Dinners are cooked by our excellent cook Ketut, who shops at the local markets, and is served by our well trained staff. Villa Elang is close to many local markets and shops and fortunately to Bali Deli which has the best selection of imported foods and wines in Bali. A menu is provided and you can always discuss your particular menu and food preferences.

Bali now has many specialist caterers who can arrange all aspects of catering from food, wines, and decorative details including flowers, additional sound and lighting systems and entertainment to create a unique in house experience. The Balinese are very proud of their heritage and special Balinese entertainment, with their unique dancers, and gamelan band can also be provided.

Sleeping Pavilions
From the main living pavilion a wide white palimanan terrace takes you though to the bedroom courtyard which is U shaped. The two bedroom pavilions are separated by a feature wall of three antiqued limed Bali doors that are beautifully unlighted at night.. There are 4 bedrooms downstairs and one upstairs. All the downstairs bedrooms wide double doors which open onto the courtyard. As one would expect from any discerning villa all bedrooms are air-conditioned, with overhead ceiling fans and all have an en-suite bathroom.

Four bedrooms have large super king 200 x 200 sized beds, one bedroom has large twin beds, which can be put together to as q Queen sized bed. A dreamy night sleep is assured with lightweight duvets, 100% cotton sheets and soft cotton mosquito net canopies. White curtains are drawn at night ensure that the bedrooms are kept cool. Three bedrooms have large walk in robes and two have wardrobes, all with safety deposit boxes and plenty of storage space for luggage. The bedrooms have been simply decorated with individual colour themes but have been tastefully integrated to have the same soft rose-tinted terracotta edged in timber floors and continue the cool white theme of crisp white walls, white rattan easy chair sand white linens.

Bathrooms
Both master bedrooms have twin, his and her vanities, bathtubs and the popular outdoor shower. The main master has a stunning adjoining large cream large terrazzo bathroom entered via large antique limed timber doors. The bathroom has a central bathtub large enough for two with a beautiful tropical garden carved stone wall feature. The outdoor shower is behind glazed walls with a bamboo detail. The bedroom closest to the living pavilion has an internal shower only as does the bedroom upstairs. The twin bedroom has a shower only with a delightful courtyard garden.

Study Media Room
The media room has been cleverly designed to give access and easily connect the three bedrooms in the separate master bedroom pavilion. This is an ideal set up for families. The master bedroom has an internal door which opens onto the media/study room. The media room also is the access to the bedroom upstairs, with the twin bedroom only a few steps away. The TV Room has a wall unit with, cable TV and DVD player, a wall to wall built in sofa, a cozy nook for relaxing.

Laundry and Staff Quarters
There is an on-site laundry and the staff has been trained to handle all guest laundry. Please advise which items you wished to have dry cleaned, which will be arranged for you and charged at local prices.

Staff
There are 9 full time staff at the villa to take care of your every need. All the house staff speak English and have been carefully trained to accommodated the needs of a fully working household with guests. Villa Casa Mateo prides itself on the superb in villa dining service provided by our House Cook. Choose from an extensive menu of both Eastern & Western delights. Our staff will visit the market after your food selection has been made and will purchase the food required.

We are pleased to provide you with our suggested Menu items for breakfast, luncheon and dinner for your selection. Should you have any special requests, please discuss with us and we will arrange if at all possible. Every effort will be made to accommodate your dining requests and special dietary needs. A selection of menus that our Cook is comfortable with preparing will be made available for you to review on a daily basis. For larger events we can also easily arrange for additional professional outside catering if needed.

A full complimentary breakfast is provided for each registered Guest. Prior to retiring at night, we ask that you advise us of your breakfast choice and the time that you require it to be served.

You may choose to shop for yourself or alternatively, you can ask the Cook to shop for you. All you need to do is prepare a list of food and drink, and the rest is done for you. Our staffs have been instructed to purchase only imported meats for our guests. Should you wish to eat local produce, please notify the Cook. You will be invoiced for the groceries of all non-complimentary food & beverage at the end of your stay but absolutely no mark-up from the shop prices. Each day the friendly Balinese staff will cook a breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs, toast and coffee. Breakfast is prepared in the fully equipped kitchen found in each villa.

We advise when choosing a full set menu for your Luncheon or Dinner, only one selection can be made, for your group, from each of the Courses to a maximum of five courses. Unfortunately it is not possible to provide different selections for each course for each person.

Our Beverages

Whilst Indonesia is predominantly a Muslim society, Bali is Hindu. You may therefore drink alcohol freely in public without attracting attention. Directly across the road from a white sand beach, Villa Des Indes I and II are situated opposite one another in a private lane off Jalan Laksmana (Oberoi) and can be rented out separately or together. A small lane and private entrances separate the two colonial residences. Be transported back to a gentler era at Villa Des Indes.

Villa Des Indes I: (3 bedrooms)
Within Villa Des Indes I there are three separate early 20th century style bungalows with oversize antique Balinese beds, en-suite grand bathrooms and tropical outdoor showers. The Joglo is a peaceful centerpiece of Villa Des Indes I, an open-air living area that appears to be floating on water, surrounded by a 21-meter lagoon swimming pool that curves amidst the orchids and frangipanis. Complete with a table for fine dining, a relaxing lounge with plantation chairs, the Joglo typifies the best in tropical Asian luxury.

Two of the sleeping pavilions have wide verandahs and den-libraries full of interesting books, attached to the bedrooms. Villa Des Indes II is situated opposite the Villa Des Indes I in a private lane across from Seminyak beach. Large ancient Chinese doors open out into a cleverly carved Joglo which serves as a living and dining area. Comfortable sofas, plantation chairs and a circular dining table occupy the Joglo. Villa Des Indes II has been decorated with immaculate attention to detail. The walls are hung with original Indonesian works of art; Dutch East Indes travel posters and antique hand carved reliefs.

Villa Des Indes II has a two storey colonial style pavilion which houses two master suites on each floor. Each suite also includes a den library and grand bathrooms. Bedrooms house antique four poster king size Balinese beds and include flat screen TV with satellite and a I-Pod docking station. Bathrooms have pedestal washbasins, free standing bathtubs and spacious rainwater showers.

There are also an additional two bedrooms above the kitchen area. Villa Capacity
Villa Des Indes I: maximum 3 extra persons are allowed using 3 sofa beds (2 in den libraries adjoining the master suites and 1 in the bedroom of the third master suite) at additional charge USD 40 net/adult and USD 30 net/ children under 12 years old (inclusive breakfast).

Villa Des Indes II: maximum 2 extra persons are allowed using 2 sofa beds in den libraries adjoining the master suites at additional charge USD 40 net/adult and USD 30 net/ children under 12 years old (inclusive breakfast). There are also two additional bedrooms available which are situated above the kitchen area at additional charge USD 60 net/per room.

The main building houses a large open fronted living and dining area decorated with antiques and exudes an aura of simplicity and style. Its centerpiece is an antique dining room table capable of seating twelve people in comfort. White terrazzo floors lead into the adjoining sitting room and the air-conditioned master bedroom suite that is dominated by an exotic canvas above the queen-sized bed. The master suite also contains a large sunken bathtub, dressing area, open-air bathroom, and access to a private plunge pool. Two additional bedrooms, both with air conditioning, are located on the other side of the main building, one on the ground floor and the second above, each with its own terrace, dressing area, and open-air bathroom.

In an adjacent building, joined to the dining area by a narrow bridge over a small lotus pond, is the kitchen. Equipped to a restaurant-level caliber, the kitchen’s facilities include a commercial stove, refrigerator, and an ice cream machine.

A separate guesthouse is situated off to one side of the property. Closer to the beach than the main building, it features two other air-conditioned bedrooms, both with large windows offering panoramic views, open-air bathrooms, and a small shared living area.

Directly in front of the main building and looking onto the beach and enormous marine-colored swimming pool, is a large covered pavilion, known in the local language as a bale, which is open on all sides. Constructed in traditional Balinese style with an intricately thatched roof and supported by four massive pillars, this bale provides an informal area in which to relax with a cocktail and enjoy the exceptional colours at sunset.

The manicured garden, featuring frangipani, palm trees, lotus ponds and stands of ginger lilies, also boasts three ancient temples dedicated to the favored Hindu gods. Amenities of the house include telephone and facsimile facilities, satellite television with video, full stereo system, and sufficient parking for up to five cars. Looked after by a large household staff, Villa Atas Ombak strives to cater for every whim or desire.

The Villa is nestled in the heart of the Batubelig area, less than 10 minutes walk to the beach on Bali’s south-western coast, and just a few minutes’ drive from the trendy Seminyak area, with its glamorous lifestyle and wide choice of top, internationally-acclaimed restaurants.

Bordered by rice fields, the setting is serene and beautiful, within a neighbourhood that is home to some of the most prestigious properties on the island. On a clear day, the vista is blessed with the magical sight of the mountains. The nearby beaches are renowned for their world-class surf breaks and panoramic coastline views. Batubelig Beach is quiet and peaceful, while Seminyak Beach is the playground of the rich and famous; the spot where the local and expatriate communities gather every evening to enjoy Bali’s legendary sunsets. Rooms
Villa Asta was designed by the internationally-acclaimed architect, Guy Morgan, with sumptuous interiors and landscaping by Dean Kempnich. The property is entered through an ornately framed wooden doorway, behind which stands a Balinese Hindu feature known as the ‘aling aling’ – a short screen wall devised to protect the property from troublesome and malign influences, because evil spirits have great difficulty in turning corners! A waterfall cascades into the pool producing a “glass like” view across the pool to the feature bale. This also has the effect of producing gasps of surprise and delight from the guests as they step past the wall and view the property for the first time. Boasting contemporary minimalist architecture and a tropical open-living concept with Balinese influences, Villa Asta is comprised of 4 separate living, dining and sleeping pavilions. The warm teak wood floors, richly grained coconut wood pillars, creamy white Palimanan stone terraces, cool marble fixtures, slate floors, and random rock walls form the dominant components, juxtaposed against koi (fish) ponds, water spouts and the natural greenery of Bali’s exotic plants.

The open-sided dining pavilion is furnished with a long table which seats up to 18, boasting padded chairs and an orange theme. Cooled by natural breezes it also features a teak wood floor, paddle fans and pendulous lanterns suspended from its pitched roof. Ideal for entertaining, this ample pavilion is linked to a quality music system with surround speakers in the roof.

Adjacent to the dining pavilion is a fully equipped, open-air service kitchen, characterised by a slate floor, teak cupboards, and black marble work surfaces. Here, the chef will prepare delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and refreshments, in accordance with guest requirements. The marble bar, complete with bar stools, is a great place for enjoying a casual breakfast or socialising with friends.

Sliding opaque glass doors lead from the dining area into an air-conditioned den. This cosy snug is furnished with deeply cushioned lounges and a big lazy chair. It also doubles as an office, and is equipped with a built-in desk and fitted cupboards, a computer with Internet access, a printer, a 32-inch plasma TV with over 25 satellite channels, DVD and a high quality sound system linked to speakers in the living and dining areas. The walls are graced with colourful local artwork and artifacts.

The living pavilion is open on 4 sides and features a soaring ‘alang alang’ thatched roof supported by coconut wood pillars above a cream Palimanan stone floor. Ceiling fans and gentle breezes keep this area cool; it is tastefully furnished with a cushioned rattan sofa, chairs, and a glass topped rattan table. This pavilion is also linked to the central music system with surround speakers in the roof.

More surprises are in store for guests as they make their way across the water garden, where large stepping stones lead over a pond to a timber walkway that forms a bridge over a secluded, large plunge pool separated from the dining and living areas by a low wall. This is the sleeping pavilion, a single-storey building housing 2 air-conditioned double bedrooms, complete with en-suite bathrooms, and a pool terrace. Each bedroom boasts a marble floor and a soaring thatched roof, and each is furnished with a canopied 4-poster king-size bed, a comfortable built-in window seat, an ottoman at the end of the bed, and a 29-inch plasma TV. Each is tastefully decorated with bold colours, rich fabrics and bright scatter cushions, local artwork and artefacts. Each also features a dressing room, complete with a vanity mirror, a safe deposit box, and built-in shelves and hanging space. Sliding glass doors lead into the private garden bathrooms, each one dominated by a splendid, oversized, marble bathtub as its central feature, and sheltered from the elements by the eaves of the roof. There is also a rainshower in each bathroom, together with a discreetly positioned toilet, and a white porcelain washbasin atop a marble vanity unit. These garden bathrooms are surrounded by walls for absolute privacy, and are both neatly planted with palms, ferns and irises. The plunge pool can be accessed by exterior bathrooms doors, thus avoiding the need to walk through the bedrooms.

Three further bedrooms and the games room are located at the far end of the garden, away from the main living areas. This 2-storey pavilion houses 3 twin bedrooms downstairs. Each of these air-conditioned bedrooms can accommodate one couple or 2 children on twin beds, plus 2 more children on rollaway beds. Each bedroom is accessed by sliding glass doors from a colonnaded terrace, and each boasts a walk-in wardrobe, an en-suite garden bathroom with toilet, shower, washbowl atop a vanity unit, and a traditional ‘mandi’ – an outdoor urn fed by a waterspout.

The semi open-air games room is a huge wooden deck with a thatched roof. It is cooled by ceiling fans, accessed by an external staircase, and presents beautiful rice field views. The play area is complemented by a kitchenette complete with a fridge and cooking facilities, and a shower room with washbasin and toilet. Equipment includes a music system, a computer (with internet access), DVD, pool table, a ping pong table, and a 42-inch wall-mounted plasma TV housed behind sliding doors within a built-in wooden cabinet. The room is furnished with an abundance of chairs and a large daybed.

Facilities
The immaculate garden is dominated by a dramatic freeform swimming pool, lined with a patterned mosaic of cobalt blue and sage green tiles. Shallow layers within the pool stair-step down into the deepest 4-metre section that has the pool at a refreshing temperature even in the hottest weather. Adjacent to the pool sits and elegant 3-metre-high, 2-storey ‘bale’ relaxation pavilion. Shaded by a thatched roof, this elevated, double-decker pavilion offers spectacular rice field and mountain views. This is the perfect place for champagne and cocktails at sunset.

Stunningly landscaped around the pool, the soft green lawn is traversed by slate ‘crazy-paving’ pathways, and dotted with sweet scented frangipani, velvety red flowering ‘dadap merah’ trees, pots of bougainvillea, and a bed of gladioli. Soothing ripples originate from a water court, tiny islands support shrubs and lanterns, smooth Palimanan stone is fashioned into a square sun terrace and is furnished with a large canopied chair. A circular timber deck rests beside the pool, complete with sunloungers and umbrellas. Every need has been considered with the provision of an outdoor pool shower, a garden shower and washroom and a hidden wash room accessed by a gorgeous, red and gold, hand-carved Balinese door.

At the far end of the garden is a walled, grass court, suitable for playing badminton, volley ball, football and other games. There is a private parking area at the front of the property outside the main entrance doors.

Guests at Villa Asta will be eligible for complimentary membership of The Canggu Club for the duration of their stay. Located just around the corner, a five minute drive or a mere 20 minutes walk from the villa, this is Bali’s first and only international private members’ club; offering sports, social and leisure facilities, including a fully equipped, state-of-the art gym, an indoor/outdoor tennis and squash centre, a full size football and rugby pitch, a 25-metre swimming pool and a separate children’s swimming pool area.

For horse lovers, the Umalas Equestrian Centre is just a few kilometres away, and Nirwana Golf Course, designed by Greg Norman and renowned as one of the best golf courses in Asia, is a 30-minute drive.

Services
Villa Asta is supported by a carefully selected team of highly trained, friendly staff who will do their best to ensure that their guests experience a truly enjoyable stay in Bali. The team is headed by a villa manager who will oversee and coordinate the staff and property, and is available to assist guests during their stay. The team also includes an in-house chef, butlers, housekeepers, gardeners, and security guards. The chef is trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. The housekeepers fulfil all of the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry. Baby-sitting and massage services and the facilities of a car and driver are also available on request at an extra charge.
